Recovering methane instead of venting it - the mobile solution for temporary operations in the gas network

For repairs, modifications, and maintenance work on gas pressure regulation and metering systems, as well as other parts of the network, the controlled venting and flaring of natural gas has long been standard practice. Under the EU Methane Regulation (EU 2024/1787), these processes are prohibited or permitted only in strictly limited exceptional cases. In the future, network operators must recover any gas that is produced rather than release it into the atmosphere.

This is exactly where Maximator’s mobile recovery compressor comes in: the portable recovery unit - the methane recovery trailer - was primarily developed for temporary use in the natural gas network. It extracts natural gas in a controlled manner from decommissioned pipeline sections or network segments and returns it to the network or to pressure vessels for temporary storage. This allows methane to be captured and recovered in locations where stationary systems cannot be used or are not economically viable.

The result: location-independent emission reduction through mobile recompression - with all the advantages of reinjection over venting and flaring.
